As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized how important it is to take care of my skin. When I was a teenager and in my early twenties, I always made sure to wash my face before bed (most of the time) and knew it was important. I would use whatever product was popular and heavily commercialized. Yes, they all did the job and I was pretty satisfied but my face would still feel slightly dry and flaky. I have combination skin – you know the oily T zone and dry everywhere else? Ugh! Also, now it’s all about anti-aging and prevention in my 30’s.
In the past year I discovered the all-natural, 100% vegan, no GMO, Paraben and cruelty free Derma-e skincare line. If we can add less chemicals and “bad things” to our skin, why not?!! I originally received samples through Birchbox (no longer in Canada…crying inside) and was in love with them! I chose the hydrating line (other lines offered as well that are specifically for sun care, antiaging, soothing etc.) because that is exactly what I was struggling with. Each of the products in the hydrating line have hyaluronic acid which helps to moisturize and plump the skin. The plumping minimizes fine lines!! Yay! That’s another skincare goal of mine.
My daily routine first starts with the hydrating cleanser, it comes out clear and you only need a dime size to lather and cleanse the entire face and neck. It’s so refreshing and it really unclogs those nasty pores without over drying. No harsh chemicals or strong fragrance. Check!
Next I use the wonderful hydrating eye crème with just a pea sized amount under each eye (remembering to dab on with ring finger). It’s extremely gentle and light. No irritation at all. I find a lot of eye creams can be too strong and cause redness. I have slightly sensitive skin and I’ve had zero issues.
Finally, the hydrating day crème. This stuff I LOVE! Even the light scent is wonderful. My daughter always compliments me on how good my face smells so I think that’s a good sign?! It’s light in texture and soaks in quickly so that I can apply my make up almost immediately. It unfortunately doesn’t have any SPF so I do apply my sunscreen afterwards to protect my face from the lovely UV rays.
